The 4th of July is upon us, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is known for its vibrant Independence Day celebrations. From parades to fireworks, this guide will help you navigate the best options for celebrating the Fourth of July in our beautiful city.
Myrtle Beach 4th of July Parades
Nothing says 4th of July like a grand parade. Myrtle Beach hosts several parades throughout the day, each one unique and filled with patriotic spirit. Here are some you won't want to miss:
- Ride into Style Golf Cart Parade: July 1, 11 am. This unique Myrtle Beach event isn't exactly a 4th of July parade, but there are other things happening – sidewalk sales, music, and more.
- Pawley’s Island Parade: July 4, 10:00 am. Just cross over the causeway, and you’ll be in the right spot! Register to enter the parade by stopping by the Town Hall.
- Town of Surfside Golf Cart Parade: July 4, 11:00 am. The parade route runs along Ocean Boulevard, a popular spot in Myrtle Beach.
- Garden City Wet Golf Cart Parade: July 4, 3 pm. Not entirely sure what to expect from this one… except that you’ll get wet. See link for more info!
- Murrells Inlet Boat Parade: July 4, 6 pm. Plus, there is live music all day!
Fireworks in Myrtle Beach
As the day winds down, prepare for an unforgettable fireworks show that lights up the night sky. Note that the fireworks displays by the ocean/inlet are much better and longer than the regularly occurring ones at Barefoot and Broadway. Here's where you can catch the best displays:
- Barefoot Landing: Fireworks begin at 10 pm on July 4th.
- Cherry Grove Pier in North Myrtle Beach: Fireworks begin at 9:30 pm.
- Broadway at the Beach: 4th of July fireworks begin at 10 pm.
- 2nd Avenue Pier: Fireworks begin at 9 pm.
- Marshwalk: Fireworks begin at 10 pm.
- Georgetown: Fireworks begin at 9 pm at East Bay Park.
- MB Pelicans Post-Game Fireworks: Games from June 30 to July 3 all have fireworks after the game.
4th of July Fun Runs in Myrtle Beach
Kickstart your Independence Day with the 13th Annual Independence Day 5K. This fun run takes place in Market Common at 7 am. Participants are encouraged to dress festively! If you miss this one, don't worry. The 5th Annual Red, White, and Blue 5K is held at Barefoot Landing at 7 am on July 1st. There's also a 50-yard untimed Kids Dash at 8 am. Costumes and festive attire are encouraged here too!
Family Events for 4th of July in Myrtle Beach
Looking for a family-friendly event? Check out the 4th of July Play Day + BBQ at STAR Academy on July 1st, from 12–3 pm. There will be BBQ, crafts, face-painting, and play! This is a special fundraiser event for a local family in need, soall proceeds will go to them. The cost is $36 per family.
Salute from the Shore
Don't miss the Salute from the Shore. This unique Myrtle Beach 4th of July event features a spectacular display of aviation prowess. Check the schedule to see when to expect the planes to be over your part of the Grand Strand.
Local 4th of July Celebrations in Myrtle Beach
There are several local celebrations to choose from:
- Surfside 4th of July Celebration: The celebration is from 5-8 pm in Memorial Park. Expect giveaways, food trucks, bounce houses, and live music.
- Hometown 4th of July: The Kaminski House in Georgetown is hosting a patriotic concert on their lawn from 6:30-8:30 pm on July 4th. Bring a chair and snacks then make your way over to enjoy the fireworks from East Bay Park.
- Wave That Flag: July 2–3, 5–10 pm at Retreat Park in Pawleys Island. Expect music, food, vendors, laser light show, and more.
